More Walls

Today is a scorcher, but the crew is still making excellent progress. How they all do not collapse and die I have no idea.

Mom's sun porch, with evidence of a mistake: the foundation plan was never updated to reflect the placement of another window and the door being moved ... sorry, Mom, but the corner window can't go in.
Of course, look at the view that still remains!

Week 5 ~ Time Lapse

6.25.13

Week 4

There is still a lot of dirt that needs to be moved, the lumber is delivered, the steel is in place, the decking has begun. So far the progress seems fast to me - I hope I am still saying that by the time fall rolls around!

Day 1: Excavation Begins

Okay.

Deep breaths.

Yesterday the excavation began! It is so exciting to see years of planning come to fruition. Our journey began with the purchase of the property two years ago, and continued with plans to build - first thinking that two houses would be best and then deciding on the single house with the in-law apartment (we are not regretting that decision). We ironed out ideas, and our wants and needs, and then worked for several months with our amazing architect and friend Mike, ultimately ending up with our dream home. After surviving the financing process (owner-built construction loans are not easy to come by) we are rolling!

Day 1: Partial excavation of basement, and the rest of the digging should be wrapped up today.
